The Ohio Department of Education, in collaboration with Broadband Ohio, is inviting all Ohio schools to apply for the $50 million of funding through the federal CARES Act to provide hotspots and internet enabled devices to Ohio’s students. Invitations will be sent to all Ohio public and non-public school entities on August 10, 2020. The application window opens on Monday, August 10 and closes at midnight, Friday, August 21. The review process takes place the week of August 24, with notifications sent to applicants the week of August 31. You can find more information regarding the Broadband Ohio Connectivity Grant, including eligibility, by visiting Ohio K12 Help.
The Management Council and Ohio’s Information Technology Centers (ITCs) are pleased to partner in this initiative by deploying Connectivity Champions, which are a component of RemoteEDx, a new $15 million suite of remote education supports for schools funded by the Ohio Department of Education CARES Act state activity funds. The Connectivity Champions are focused on helping schools remove barriers to internet connectivity and coordinate connection to state-level resources. The Management Council and Ohio’s ITCs look forward to making a difference in the lives of Ohio’s leaders, teachers, and learners through the implementation of Connectivity Champions to support Ohio’s schools.
